Northern Carers Network offers a range of services designed to make the role of Carers a little easier. Carers in need of respite services, access to information, education, advocacy, counselling or telephone support and a range of social and recreational activities should contact NCN to access our services.
Services available include:
One of our key services is respite. Respite allows Carers to have a break from their caring duties and enables them to attend to their own needs and reconnect with the world. Time out through respite can take the form of social and recreational activities or short holidays, retreats and camps, offering a real break and opportunity to connect with other Carers.
Our Hopeful Horizons program offers support to those caring for a family member or friend living with a mental illness. These Carers are at an increased risk of experiencing depression and anxiety themselves and this may be reduced by access to support, respite and information.
The Breakthru program is a support program for young carers and their siblings. It is designed specifically to support children and teens between the ages of 7 - 18 years who care for a parent, adult relative, sibling or other identified person within the home environment.
NCN offers a range of respite packages that include a range of flexible in home and from home services. Flexible Respite Packages offer up to 12 hours per month respite.
The Stitch in Time respite program (S.I.T.) offers up to 4 hours respite per month.
A variety of social activities provide opportunities to connect with other Carers while activities specifically for Young Carers and siblings are offered through the Breakthru program.
We offer a variety of regular Carer Group Meetings including male-specific groups. See our complete listing of Carer Groups.
NCN offers a variety of courses, workshops and seminars on subjects including stress management, massage, lifting and first aid. Please contact us for more information.
