If you care for a person with Parkinson's Disease, we have a couple of groups that provide support for you and the person you care for.
Support Group specifically for people with Parkinson's Disease and their Carers. The Group enjoys social support, lunches and occasional days out as well as guest speakers keeping the Group abreast of local information. This group meets at the Jack Young Centre at Salisbury every Friday between 10am and 12pm.
Support Group specifically for families dealing with Parkinson's Disease. Their aim is to support Carers and provide information relevant to the caring role as well as providing support and exercise for the person with Parkinson's. Both Groups join together on a regular basis and enjoy social time. This group meets at Resthaven Therapy Services 16 Gillingham Rd Elizabeth on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month and is run in partnership to provide the person being cared for exercise, advice and support. Northern Carers Network offers access to a range of Support Groups for Carers. Some are specialised and others are more general. Some groups meet monthly and some fortnightly. Some share coffee and a chat and others hear from guest speakers or go out and about. What they all have in common is they provide an opportunity for Carers to connect with people in similar circumstances to their own.
